 Our mission is to keep the citizens of Long Beach and it's firefighters safe thru fundamental and advanced training, building firefighter confidence, and instilling a sense of departmental and self pride

Every LBFD firefighter completes a 7-week, 294 hour NFPA 1001-1-2 Firefighter 1 & 2 course at the Mississippi State Fire Academy.  The MS State Fire Academy is considered among the best in the world in its facilities and instructional curriculum. LBFD members attend several Specialized and Advanced Techniques rescue classes throughout the year at the Academy located in Jackson, MS.  Other State and National classes are held local and taught by Chief Stapleton.

 From new recruits to seasoned veterans, the LBFD strives to maintain optimum readiness.  Physical training/fitness is encouraged and continued education is required.  In Service training varies from remaining familiar with different types of equipment to patient/victim rescue techniques and packaging.  


   

Specialized Courses



  
   
 
LBFD members stay trained in both basic and 
advanced fire fighting techniques.  Other training
 includes EMS related courses such as Medical First Responder and Emergency Medical  Technician (EMT). Members stay prepared in technical rescue
and specialty classes such as Dive Rescue, Hazardous 
Material Technician, Rope Rescue, Confined Space
Rescue, and Trench Rescue and Emergency Shoring
