City of Long Beach Fire Classification Change:
The fire classification within the City of Long Beach has changed from a 6 rating to a 5 rating. Residents and Businesses should contact your insurance company to inquire about reduction in your fire insurance premium.
All citizens that burn within the Long Beach city limits must obtain a burn permit prior to burning. Burn permits may be obtained from fire station # 1 ONLY, 7 days a week from 8AM-6PM. This station is located at 645 Klondyke Road. There is no charge for the permit.
The Smoke Alarm Program has been discontinued. The State Fire Marshal's office has completely run out of smoke alarms. These alarms were purchased through a Federal Grant and issued to departments throughout the state. We hope another grant becomes available in the near future.
In the mean time if individuals purchase smoke alarms and need help installing them; they can call Assistant Chief Griff Skellie at 228-863-7292 for assistance. The fire department will also assist individuals install batteries in their alarms.
